What is an adequate definition of time management?
Kell's answer
Your question is a good one. For me, time management is really an oxymoron.
We cannot really manage time. If you think about it, regardless of who we are or what we do, time keeps marching on at 60 minutes an hour, 24 hours a day.
What we actually manage is ourselves in relation to time.
So a definition of time management is involves self management or life management. It is about managing the activities that we do in relation to time.
From this perspective, I think that time management is a lot more than simply planners and to-do lists.
Although, these are both important, time management at its core is really about living a life of purpose meaning.
Without using time effectively, we end up squandering our time on things that are less important.
I quite like the quote by Benjamin Franklin:
Dost thou love life Then do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of.
