How to attain balance in college as a full-time parent?

Kell's reply: Hi Latonya

Being a student while doing the most important job in the world is going to require good planning, focus, and dedication to what is your piority.

As a parent, you will have all the things that a student feels plus more!

It is easy to feel pressured by a lack of time, with assignments due, exams to come, and lectures to attend.

On top of this you may have to juggle work, family comittments, and a social life.

It can seem that there just aren't enough hours in the day!

I suggest that you take two approaches that use sound time management principles.

The first is a top-down approach to time management. This involves student planning, at the semester and weekly level, to ensure that you get your high impact activities in.

The second approach is a bottom-up approach to time management. This is not so much about following a schedule, but rather about focus and quality of the time that you put in.

The bottom-up approach involves reducing distractions and interruptions, knowing when you work best, and ensuring that you have adequate rest and recuperation to perform at your best.

Student time management gives you this and more. Good student time management is more that to-do lists and organization, it is about ensuring that you make the most of college life with minimal stress.
